SIRC provides each campus in the School Improvement Program (SIP) with a Professional Service Provider (PSP) to work with the principal and LEA to improve student achievement on the campus. PSPs are experienced administrators who have been approved by SIRC and have completed specialized training for each Stage of the School Improvement Program. SIRC assigns each Stage 1 campus with a PSP who is specially trained as a Campus Administrator Mentor (CAM). For Stages 2 & 3 SIRC nominates, for principal selection, qualified PSPs trained as a Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) with specific skill sets that match the needs of the campus. Beginning at Stage 4, SIRC places a specifically trained PSP - TAP with specific skills and experience helping principals and LEAs through the restructuring requirements of SIP. In addition,SIRC assigns an Education Specialist staff member to assist the PSP, principal and LEA contacts in meeting AYP requirements.
SIRC provides technical assistance to LEAs in School Improvement through resources and staff consultations, as well as, training PSP to specialize in working with LEAs to meet the AYP standards whom LEAs may wish to contract with.
SIRC also provides technical assistance to schools receiving a Texas Title I Priority School Grant. PSPs trained in the grant's Transformation model, Turnaround model, and Restart/Closure model are provided to each campus grantee. SIRC staff serve as Case Managers assisting the PSP, campus, and LEA in successful implementation of the their grant.
SIRC provides numerous resources to LEAs and campuses. The Texas School Improvement Conference is held annually to provide the latest information and best practices related to school improvement for all SIP campuses. In addition SIRC publishes a series of documents such as Principal Planning Guides and provides on-line sessions/webinars which all can be found here or linked from this website.
